Musician, Singer, Artist, Storyteller

Finding your own story and learning how to tell it in song is the focus for this class. Each student will present several songs to the group in this mutually supportive environment. We’ll use in-class performance, and video feedback, and end the class by performing in the Jazzschool student recitals. We cover topics such as basic chart-writing, basic improvisational skills, rhythmn studies, scat sylables, performance technique, audience rapport and a lot, lot more.
Maximum class size: 6Hi Maye----The photos were such fun to see. Between the programs w/pics and bios, and the concert photos, you made the performance a really festive event! All who attended said how much fun they had, asking when the next performance would be held!! Thank you for all your hard work. I want you to know how much I appreciate all the time, energy, patience and warmth that you so generously invest in your students. Irene

Maye, your class was the beginning of my singing career. What I mean is that after taking your class I felt like I can do this, I can really see myself singing and being with people. Thank you for sharing your gift. Venus
Take the Stage Workshop (for All musicians)
In this workshope we’ll work on practical skills for live performance including: how to pace a set, how to showcase all members of the group, how to develop a personal artistic identity, how to command attention and stand out from the crowd, how to tame pre-performance jitters, and how to build your audience. You’ll identify your goals and learn ways for achieving them. This is a workshop for all musicians who want to develop better audience rapport.
The clinic today was great. It had been a while since I had been to a music workshop that was that informative. Chase
